Surrender your existence to existence.
Discover your spontaneity.
To entertain the belief that you know what you are going to do in the future or next week is a madness.
What a restriction, a limitation and a repression.
Life flows spontaneously and is infinitely greater than all your plans or intensions put together.
Why spoil it with hasty and vain projections?
Let it be whatever it will be. Give up trying to manipulate.
This is Freedom.
Could it be that simple? Can one find happiness by allowing themselves to abandon control over the external world? I decided to put that theory to test and follow the advice of spiritual teacher, Mooji.
I canceled all engagements for the day, left my phone at home and granted myself the freedom to be absolutely spontaneous. With a full tank of gas, I jumped in my car and headed east. I had no destination in mind, no set plans, no expectations.
A quick stop through downtown Hilo for provisions permitted a few minutes relief from an hour-long drive. While snacking on a malasada (Portuguese doughnut), an idea came to me. I was off and headed south towards Pahala.
I arrived at Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling “Immutable Island of Melodious Sound,” a Buddhist temple located on 25 acres in Wood Valley, Kau. Its entry adorned with colorful Tibetan prayer flags strung like confetti. Peacocks with iridescent blue-green plumage patrolled the grounds in regal splendor. Melodic chimes echoed in the wind.
I stood silent and basked in the beauty of nature. I understood the days lesson: The importance of simply BEing in the moment.
I was HAPPY.
