Make Every Day an Adventure!

#NaBloPoMo, Day 4: Who is your favorite character of all time?

Without a doubt, I would have to say that my favorite character of all time is Indiana “Indy” Jones. The start of my adolescence included watching the first Indy movie, “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” which got me hooked on travel, adventure and history. I thought, wow, what an awesome life to have – teach at a college, and during your breaks jump on a plane.  Why not explore the world while finding hidden treasures and seeing first-hand what is described in books?

Not that Indy influenced how I would plan out my life, but as result of watching every single film (don’t ask me to summarize them, as my memory is not as sharp as before) I started to get excited about growing up and being independent. I couldn’t wait to be an adult where I could decide when I wanted to explore other countries, experience different cultures, try exotic foods, and jump at a chance of being in awkward cross-cultural situations. This sounds like a mish mash of sorts, but so far, I have welcomed whatever opportunities that have come knocking on my door, and am always eager to try something new.

Indy has been my favorite character, and someone I always wanted to have as a friend. I loved his safari outfits, and of course his humor. I knew that I wanted a partner in life that would resemble Indy and be open to adventure. When my husband was courting me, I grilled him on his hobbies, likes and dislikes, and most of all his flexibility to trying new things. He is my Indy who has the spirit and love to join me on this exciting journey of life.

  1. Is that your hubs? He makes a very handsome Indy! I too am a huge Indiana Jones fan! I remember seeing it for the first time when I was like 8 and totally falling in love!!

  2. I love the hubby’s Indy hat! You were wise to be sure he liked adventure too before tying the knot, and how fun now to take off on adventures together.

Who doesn’t love Indiana Jones. I wanted to be an Archaeologist when I was little but then heard about the mummy’s curse…ya I so did not want to be one after that. But maybe that’s why I love traveling.
